OET score for NMBI registration (nurses and midwives in Ireland)
NMBI needs OET grade B (350 or more) in three sub-tests and at least C+ (300) in the fourth, all from a single sitting; OET@Home isn't accepted.
Minimum OET scores
0–500 per sub-testB (350) in three sub-tests and C+ (300) is accepted in any one sub-test.
The C+ can be in any one sub-test, not only Writing. The dashboard line shows C+ for Writing because that's where most candidates use it.
The rules around the lines
- Lines apply
- Current NMBI rule.
- Combining sittings
- Not allowed. NMBI accepts results from one sitting only.
- OET@Home
- Not accepted.
- Validity
- 2 years.
- Single sub-test resit
- Not useful: NMBI needs one sitting.
- Version

Questions candidates ask
Does the C+ have to be in Writing?
No. NMBI accepts C+ (300 to 340) in any one of the four sub-tests, as long as the other three are B (350 or more).
Can I combine two OET sittings for NMBI?
No. All four results must come from the same sitting.
Does NMBI accept OET@Home?
No. Book a paper-based test or a computer test at a venue.
I have 340 in Reading and 340 in Writing. Is that enough?
No. Only one sub-test can be at C+. With two at 340, you need another sitting where at least three sub-tests reach 350.
