Practice that tells you the truth about your score.
An OET exam costs A$587. Many candidates sit it again and again with no feedback on why they fell short. OETAce exists so you can find out before you book, and fix what's holding you back.
Ranges, not flattery
Every Writing and Speaking score comes as a range with a confidence level, and the range only ever extends downwards. When the evidence is thin, such as a typed role-play, we say so.
Evidence for every mark
The marker has to quote your own words. Quotes are checked against your letter or transcript before you see them, so you can judge each comment yourself.
Original material only
Every test, letter and role-play card is written by us in the format of the computer-based test. We don't use official OET materials, leaked papers or anyone else's questions.
How marking works
Listening and Reading are marked exactly against an answer key, with Part A spelling rules applied. Raw marks are converted to an estimated range on the 0 to 500 scale; OET does not publish a fixed conversion, and around 30 out of 42 is usually a B.
Writing and Speaking are marked by AI against the published OET criteria: six for Writing, and four language plus five clinical communication criteria for Speaking. We test the marker for consistency by marking the same letters and role-plays several times. Speaking is marked from your transcript and turn timing, not from the sound of your voice, so intelligibility and fluency are judged indirectly.
What's next
We are collecting real exam results from candidates who choose to share them, and will publish how close our estimates come. More professions, tests and languages for explanations are on the way.
