Paper, computer and OET@Home are all accepted. The most-recent-test rule means a later, lower sitting replaces an earlier pass.
The rules around the lines
- Lines apply
- Current GMC rule; no new date announced.
- Combining sittings
- Not allowed. All four sub-tests must reach B in the same sitting, and it must be your most recent OET.
- OET@Home
- Accepted: paper, computer and OET@Home results all count.
- Validity
- 2 years. The GMC can accept an older result in some circumstances; check its page.
- Single sub-test resit
- Not useful: the GMC needs all four in one sitting.
- Version
- Must be the Medicine version of OET.
Check with the regulator: we couldn't confirm when the GMC accepts a result older than 2 years from an official source.
Questions candidates ask
Can I combine OET results from two sittings for the GMC?
No. All four sub-tests need 350 or more in the same sitting.
I passed OET, then sat it again and scored lower. Which result counts?
The GMC asks for your most recent OET, so the later sitting is the one it looks at. If you already have a passing result, don't sit again unless you're confident.
Does the GMC accept OET@Home?
Yes. Paper-based, computer and OET@Home results are all accepted, as long as you took the Medicine version.
Is Writing C+ enough for the GMC?
No. Unlike the NMC, the GMC needs B (350) in Writing too.
