The rule for veterinarians in UK

RCVS requires the Veterinary version of OET for this English-test route to full registration. Its current language page allows C+ in one component if the other three are B or above and the overall grade is B or higher. Do not confuse that route with temporary Official Veterinarian registration, which has separate conditions. RCVS also permits individual component retakes while retaining the overall requirement. The current page describes paper or online tests without clearly distinguishing OET@Home, so confirm that format directly.

What to aim for in practice

For veterinary practice in the UK, rehearse a conversation with an animal’s owner rather than assuming a human-patient script transfers unchanged. Explore the owner’s concern, explain the proposed investigation or treatment and check the agreed next step. A referral letter should identify the animal and the clinical question for the receiving vet. When reviewing scores, check the overall grade as well as the single C+ allowance; four isolated threshold comparisons do not capture the whole RCVS rule.

The table uses a B target as a planning reference. Apply the flexible profile above to the complete result; it is not four unconditional B cut-offs.

These raw-mark ranges use the same estimate as our test marker. They are a study aid, not an official OET conversion or registration decision. Part A alone cannot predict a score for a full 42-question test. Review Writing and Speaking feedback separately.
