Choosing case notes for an OET letter

Most OET letters lose marks on what goes in and what stays out. The reader, usually a GP, a community nurse or a specialist, needs the information that helps them act now, not the patient's whole history.

Each round shows a reader and a set of notes. You mark each note include or leave out, then see why, so the judgement becomes quick before you write a full letter.

  • Decide for a specific reader
  • Leave out what doesn't change their next step
  • See the reason for every note
